MORE Wendy's Free Fries Coupons Through Facebook *UPDATED TWICE
I really like Wendy's new fries. I've already used two coupons from their last promotion I posted about. The value size is very tiny but I guess that just means you don't have to worry about them getting cold. Fairbanks has updated to the Sea Salt Fries but North Pole as of Tuesday still tastes like the old ones.
I'm a little confused about this new promotion, FRY-FOR-ALL . It is simple enough to get the coupon for a value sized fry but your level (small, medium, large) doesn't change the size on the fry coupon. I think that is a little misleading. But the 5 people who cashed in on your small fry catergory can replay towards the 15 coupons in the medium category to try for the instant win prizes. That last sentence will make a lot more sense if you look HERE at the promotion page. You can also win prizes but I'll just be excited to get a medium fry. I'll post an update if I find out more. But these have reset so even if you printed from the last promotion this past weekend you can print 2 more. Even though you can only print two per facebook account, I was able to print 4 on one computer by using my husband's page.
*Update... After the first 5 fries are taken from your post, the promotion makes it so you have to open the next package of coupons. So now you have a new link to post on your wall because the old link will say you are out of coupons to share. This is the most complicated promotion I have ever seen.

Wii Games At Freds + Free Turkey Out
I haven't looked at too many blogs to see if this deal has posted but I thought I should let you know just in case. Freds if have a great deal right now on Wii games. I wonder if they are panicking because of the new motion sensors coming out for other games. We have had Wii for a bit now. But I think we only average adding about 2.5 games a year. And the last one we got was at Christmas last year. So here is the amazing deal...
-Saving Certifitate that can be used in the electronic section. It can be found in the two days sales ad released Friday and the Saturday one day sales ad. $10/$50, $20/$100, and $30/$150.
-10% off Wii Software coupon found in weekly electronic ad and two day ad for Friday and Saturday.
-Coupon hanging next to Wii Games. Get $25 Fred Meyer gift card when you purchase two wii games $29.99 and up.
The guy helping me couldn't have been nicer but I had taken so much of his time asking him about certain games that I didn't want to keep him any longer by trying out the coupons. I want to know if I can use the 10% on the $29.99 games and still get the gift card. Will the register still see them as $29.99 games or now see them as less? I guess I'll find out tomorrow. And lately instead of handing out gift cards the people at the registers just ask me if I want it deducted off my bill. Be careful if you do that because that might change your savings certificate.
Also note that you should give them your $25 coupon before the certificate because that could also change the amount of the games to under $29.99. So I'll be giving them my coupons in this order $25 gift card, saving certificate, and then the 10% off if they let me.
Ok and not to get you all too confused but don't forget to use your free turkey coupons too. They came in Wednesdays paper with some other nice coupons. The woman at customer service was kind enough to let me know that she thinks there will be another free turkey coupon in Sundays paper. I can't post the other coupons right now without waking my son. If I remember two of them were for eggs and soup. And then they had an advertisement for really cheap potatoes. 10 pounds for $1.98. So the plan for tomorrow is games, groceries and the turkey.

Hello Again
Well I got back from a much needed trip to PA to see my family. I feel refreshed. And life seems very different now for some reason. My husband has a new job. He is now on the road to becoming a journeyman in about 5 years. It is like there is a light at the end of the tunnel of all this penny pinching. If I just keep on saving what I can, we might actually build a savings account. And last month we paid off the last of our medical bills. (And the angels sing!)
Also, I started remodeling againg. We started 3.5 years ago. There was this plan to move to Kenai. But when my son was born 14 weeks premature it just stopped. And then building supplies became the last thing on the list when it came to spending money. So we have been living in the hands of disorganization. And I'll tell you a secret that I'm a little embarrassed to admit. I'm a sucker for that new Nate show. The guy that was always on Oprah. I always thought "Who is going to watch that show?" when I saw it advertised. ME! I don't know why but I love it. It motivates me.
Let me tell you about my home. I have been told by a construction worker who built the house behind us that the people who built my house asked them how to do certain work because they flat didn't know how to build certain things. So we found pipes that were just capped, our ventilation fans leaked in water from the snow, drywall was cut short, framing needed to be recut, and the list goes on. So..... after the huge list of major problems got fixed (including a new leach field for our 5 year old house) we are making it look better on the outside too. Sorry to those of you that are fans of popcorn ceilings but they had to go. And with 7 dogs we ended up taking the carpet out. So right now the thing that is taking up most my time is taking skim coating the walls and taping up the gaps. And then sanding. And then doing it all over again... a couple times. So thank the Lord for the Nate Show and the motivation it gives me.
I am not couponing like I used to be but I am looking for deals and cooking from scratch or semi-scratch. Today I made 4 lasagnas. So I plan on posting here and there about some good deals that I've found and haven't seen posted on other sites. Maybe I'll even post some remodeling pictures too. I've very excited about this winter. I think its going to be a good one!

Where did I go?
"Where have I been?" will probably be a theme until October. Things have been really crazy and stressful. I just really like doing the blog and was really difficult for me to just stop checking for deals. It took me probably three weeks to get my priorities in order. It hit me one day that Alaska sets my priorities as far as chores/tasks. Berry picking is not more important than planning my shopping list. But there is only a short time that I can blueberry pick. So I'm starting to look more at the time frame I'm dealing with. It has really cut down on feeling like "I'm running out of time!" I'm just having trouble picking what is actually important to accomplish.
Very important family time is going to keep me away until October. Until I leave for my trip I have a lot of summer stuff to wrap up and prepare for winter. Summer has always been short and I'm going to have to cut it even shorter this year. But it is for good reason. And since this trip is going to be on the longer side I want to spend as much time as possible with the husband. So until I type again... I hope you all have a great rest of summer and enjoy the sunshine!

Famous Footwear $10/$10 Deal- Ends Tonight
I took this coupon with a grain of salt because I know how expensive the shoes are at Famous Footwear. My son needed new sandals, sneakers and my husband needed sneakers. Rethinking my shopping, I'm a little disappointed in myself. The women next to me had it right. She got sandals for her son for $1.99. And then she had a second $10/$10 coupon and got 6 pairs of socks for $.99.
Well I did it a little differently. I dragged my hubby along so we could both use one. I thought they might be picky but they let the woman beside me use two (note that they were two separate purchases). I got a good deal on the sandals. They were $24.99, markdown to $14.99, $10/$10 off, final price $4.99. And they are really nice. They even light up. I know, I'm a nerd. The lights make my son happy, which makes me happy. And then I got sucked into the buy one get one 1/2 off deal. Grrrr! That deal always messes with my head. The deal only makes their overpriced shoes equal to the price of Fred Meyers daily prices. But we need the shoes so I'm going to let this little glitch in my great shopping slide. My husband's shoes were $59.99 (LA Gear sneakers so that is way over priced), marked down to $39.99. Son's shoes were $29.99, half price $15.00. Total $54.98- $10/$10= $44.98 for both pairs of shoes. Ok, just one more time, yuck!
So there is my shopping story. If you can wait for a better deal to come along in August with the back to school deals, wait to buy multiple shoes there. If you need shoes right away it isn't a terrible deal. If you need kid's sandals and socks it is a great deal. HERE is the Facebook link.

Chili's Email Club
What won't I belong to for free coupons? I got an email that if I joined Chili's email club I could get free food. It is frustrating for me to see promotions on TV but know that Alaska doesn't participate in them. But the website said that Fairbanks, AK is a participating location so I'll definitely be stopping in with coupons in hand.
I got two coupons...
1) Free Chips and Queso- Cheese dip with seasoned beef. Served with warm tostada chips and house-made salsa. The coupon expires two weeks from printing. One coupon per table.
2) Free Brownie Sundae- Warm, rich chocolate brownie topped with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge. The coupon expires three weeks from printing. One coupon per table. You have to enter the last four numbers of your credit card to get the brownie coupon. The credit card I used didn't really fit the description of the credit card I most use at Chili's.

Fred Meyer's 6 Hour Sale Monday
Fred Meyer is having a 6 Hour Door Buster Sale on Monday morning. They posted an AD already. I just signed in to check the 4 Day True Blue Sale AD that runs through Sunday. I really haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Though this does answer my question about if they will put out a savings certificate. Well last year they put one out during the first week in August so hopefully soon.
I really like the "new" Freds so much better than the one on Airport. The "old" Fred's coupon exchange is disgusting. It's a trash can. I'm so glad that we have two to pick from. I'm sure there are good employees in the "old" Freds but I keep catching attitude with every visit. It is just not worth it. I just don't understand how two stores can be so different. Good Job "New" Freds! (And it isn't about being new. My favorite Safeway is the one in North Pole.)

School Supplies Coupons, Stock Up Before August!
I debated about passing these by. It seemed like if I admitted to myself that Back to School Sales are on there way, summer would be over. I saw The Krazy Coupon Lady had posted coupons for school supplies and I finally broke down tonight and went back to her post to print them off. I like these coupons because they work well with using the Fred Meyer's Saving Certificates.
Let me stop right here for a second. I need to just give a little talk about the blessed Savings Certificates. I have a listed called the "$25.00 List." You don't have much notice that they are offering this savings certificate. It is basically a 20% off deal ($5/25, $10/50, sometimes they go higher) on everything but the groceries. So I have an emergency list of things we want/need when the ad pops up for a day or two. I go to the store with the savings certificate, 7 day coupons, bonus coupons and manufacturer coupons. And I SAVE BIG!!! Once I saved 92%.
Ok, back to the savings...
$2/10 purchase of Post-It Products
$1/1 Post it Cube
$1/1 Wall Mounted Pop-Up Dispenser
$1/1 Post-It Flags or Tabs
$1/1 Post-It Flag & Highlighter
$1/1 Post-It Removable Label
All Here
And there is about 8 Scotch Tape Brand Products HERE (sorry I don't have a chance to write out the list).

Wendy's Summer of Real
Wendy's has a new instant win game. You can obtain codes from Wendy's products but it is also a "no purchase required" game. I love no purchase required. You can request a code but here is one floating around online to use (thanks Cha-Ching on a Shoestring) 329492855844. They have some pretty big prizes but they are giving away a lot of My Coke Rewards points. Try your luck HERE.
Nivea Lip Care Coupons, 2 Locations for $2/2
Nivea Lip Care Coupon $2/2 HERE Many blogs had a similar one posted today through the Nivea site but I found a different one through sheer luck because that one was dead. And then there is one HERE also, $2/2. So if you print two at both locations you can get 4. Safeway in the lower 48 are selling the lip care for $.99. I'm hoping it is $1.25 up here. I definitely need to stock up on this before the winter.

Free DiGiorno Pizza
On Facebook DiGiorno is giving away a free deep dish pizza if you post a silly picture of yourself. It is really easy. You just paste your face on a photo-opt cutout. It seriously is really easy. I thought it was going to take a lot longer. They send it to you through the mail. Here
Coca Cola Coupon
I can never find these so I'm really happy to tell you that there is a coke coupon on Facebook. Here The coupon states "Save $.99 toward a 14 oz, 16 oz, or 20 oz bottle of Coca Cola." You send the coupon to a friend on facebook and then they need to send a message back to you with a coupon. You can only print them once per computer.
Where Did I Go?
I just noticed my last post was on Wednesday. My gosh! Things have been a little crazy. I have to say that my husband has been saving us money left and right these past couple of weeks. Summer hits and he becomes Mister Fix-It.
We had a post office box but it just got too expensive. So for $45.00 worth of supplies we now have a mail box. I realized that in the past 4 years we have spent over $500.00 just to have a little box that we only drive to every two weeks. He did a really nice job setting up the new one.
On Friday night we realized the crawl space under the house had flooded. I had planned a major shopping trip for that night but instead we gathered every towel in the house for a very dirt filled evening. Water was everywhere. Under us and dripping down over us. Yuck! A water pipe under the sink was leaking and again for $45.00 my husband had everything fixed. Well after a mild geyser in the kitchen.
And now tonight he is outside fixing the reverse on his boat. He just took apart an ironing board to use it as handle. And two weeks ago he put lawnmower wheels on a heavy duty Little Tikes wagon I got at a yard sale for $5.00. The wagons Little Tikes make are really nice except for the hallow plastic wheels. But now it is suped-up with solid rubber wheels, but are still sporting the white rims.
I have realized how lucky I am to have a husband that values saving money and giving new life to things we already have. I couldn't imagine putting all the work I do into cutting costs if he spent frivolously. It really is a team effort. So tonight I salute my amazing husband... the Jack of all Trades... the Master of None. Ha ha, just kidding. You amaze me with your ingenuity.

I keep seeing a book all over the place, "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest." I guess that makes me "the girl who raked the hornet's nest." I worked for 4 hours this past weekend to take out a huge wild rose bush... HUGE. I'm 20 minutes from having the whole thing done and I get stung by a hornet through my gardening gloves. It would have been funny if it hadn't of hurt so much because it got stuck through my gloves. While I was dancing around, it was going on a wild ride. I'm mildly allergic so I ran in and took some Benadryl. After a couple minutes, I went back outside to finish the job. I knew how bad my hand was going to look in a couple hours and I was taking advantage of the time until the distorted, swollen claw showed up.
I went to work raking up the brush again. The wet ground was causing the gnats to go crazy. There were so many gnats but there was also an increasing number of hornets. Maybe I made them mad when I put my hand in their nest. Yep, apparently their nest was in the root system and I was wrist/rake deep in their home... in a bathing suit. I'm so lucky! I can't believe I only got stung once. Needless to say, I stopped.
I'll get some spray and then get back to work this weekend. The best money saving tip I can tell anyone is to plant a garden. But sadly it is the middle of June and it is only half planted. I thought if I put a play area right next to it, my son could play and I could work. He should enjoy it while he can because next year he will be planting too... AKA organized digging in the mud.

Dog Food Challenge
I'm so sorry for being so behind on this challenge. Don't worry though, the dogs are being fed even though I'm not posting about their food. Here is a recap...
The first huge batch of food made enough for a week. I was still supplementing their regular dog food so it went a little farther. I was worried about the salmon going bad in the fridge for that long so I froze about 4 days worth in the freezer. That didn't go over so well. It froze like a rock. After two days of thawing in the fridge it was still just as hard. I resorted to thawing it is the microwave but for some reason all the bags would leak fish water. On top of all this I was super sick.
Last Monday I went to grab more salmon from the freezer and found some steak. The steaks were a thorn in my side from this past winter. They were a gift from my father in law that accidentally got forgotten about in the fridge. The nicest thing to ever sit in my refrigerator and I was serving "lowest price of the season" chicken. I found it a day past expiration, washed it off because I guess I thought that would help, and decided that it was getting made for breakfast. The steak we didn't finish that day (it was really good) I immediately froze. And here I find it in the back of the freezer. So into the huge pot it went. It was my steak therapy.
I didn't have to buy anything at the grocery store for that batch but I did use some frozen vegetables that I'm going to need to re-buy when they are on sale again. I got them for $.75 during the March Frozen Food Sale at Safeway. I also used the rest of my rice ($1.40).
I made another batch this past weekend of salmon, rice, and vegetables. I grabbed a bag of rice at Freds for $4.49 and used more frozen vegetables ($.75). I'm so glad we are using up the salmon. Last year I went on a smoked salmon jerky making spree with the leftover catch.
Money Invested After 3 Weeks...
20 quart stock pot $20.70 (org. $45.99)

Safeway's Buy 8, Save $4.00 Deals STILL VALID PLUS MORE!
Tonight I did a last minute trip to Safeway. I put all that work into my list and it almost went to waste because I was sick. I did the savy thing and checked next weeks sales (it posts at 8pm on Tuesday) and noticed more Buy 8, Save $4.00 items. I saw some were the same and some were new. I decided to update my list (on paper, it isn't in the computer yet).
While I was actually in Safeway I noticed every single item with the Buy 8, Save $4.00 tag runs until the 15th. The flyer in last weeks ad said those deals ran until the 8th. Wrong! Keep that flyer!
I almost feel like we have a double flyer week. I know it is only $.50 discounts but most of items are marked with a Reg Price... Club Price... and then the $.50 discount.

Free Nabisco Cookies (Includes Alaska!)
Sorry there were no blogs this weekend. I don't know what happened but Saturday I was as sick as death warmed up.
I wasn't going to post this because the newspaper ad said that it was for the 48 contiguous US on the newspaper flyer. Even though I have family that follow this blog from outside AK, I still get annoyed when coupons are ran that exclude AK. I'm fine if stores don't carry the product but if we are patrons of the product we deserve a shot at a coupon too.
BUT IT INCLUDES ALASKA! I printed the coupon and it states it is open to all residents of the 50 US states (except MD and VT, sorry guys). Ok, now I guess I should give you a little more detail on the coupon because it is more a Buy A List Get 1 Free...
Buy 1 package of Nabisco Cookies, 1 Gallon of Milk, 1 any other size Milk, and then get 1 package of Nabisco Cookies Free.
Log Onto Your Facebook Account, Find Nabisco Cookies Page, Click on Cookies and Milk Tag, Print!
Valid TODAY, June 7th! And the first Monday of each month for the rest of 2010!

Cellfire Cinderella Deal & New Coupons!
Cellfire is starting a new promotion by introducing a "Cinderella" deal. It is for Fred Meyers and their affiliated stores. For a short period, at a specific time, they will have coupons for a $money$ amount. I guess they gave $1.00 coupons today. I missed the time period it was open, but it looks like next week will be even better. Now that I know about the deal I will try to keep on top of it. From what I've read, Cellfire had a lot of problems with their computer system. Hopefully everything will run smoothly next time. This is the information they posted on Facebook...

Safeway's Buy 8, Save $4.00 Deals
The most important thing to state about this sale would be that it is a mix and match deal. You don't have to buy 8 2Liter bottles of Pepsi to get them for $1.00. You can pick 8 items on the list. I like picking my items before I go. If I don't choose my items, I buy more than what I need, because I'm trying to meet the 8 item minimum. I get to the check out and I have 15 items. Maybe I could do without the 3rd bottle of ketchup.

Pamper's Reward Codes
I've kept a list in the back of my coupon book of all the pamper's codes I have been able to find the last two months. Now that my son is almost out of diapers, I thought it was the perfect time to start playing the game (ha ha). I started receiving 10 point codes each time I checked out at Safeway and I have found a few in Fred Meyers. I love the little things in life! They are 10 points each unless otherwise noted.
Here is my list:

Debt is Not the End of the Story
I'm heading into North Pole soon to pick up the Safeway flyer and run a few errands. I know I can see the deals on the internet but I like the paper flyer. I'm going to catch a quick episode on Oprah. I'm not a big Oprah fan but it is an episode all about debt.
I'm big on being a debt fixer. I was pretty irresponsible with money when I was in my early 20s. I kept the lifestyle my parents gave me when I lived in their home, but only had a 20 something's salary. Luckily I grew up and became aware of what I was doing. I started putting a lot of money towards paying off bills and we created an emergency fund. And then life happened again. Long story short we have another large debt hole to focus on again. But we are going to conquer that too!
I think it is important to look at the big picture when you are saving money or feeling overwhelmed by lack there of. I think keeping up with the Jones is so self defeating. You may see their belongings but you don't see their credit card statements. They have a lot of money and they spend a lot of money. We don't have a lot of money so we don't spend a lot of money. BUT one day we will have money and we know how to live on less! Did that all make sense? Ha ha
All of the work you are doing to save your dollars (and cents) is going to be knowledge that you will use for the rest of your money spending life. I'm learning the real value of money. I'm learning the importance of deserving the best price. I'm learning how to find the better deals. I'm learning the price of everything in the store, ha ha.
Be proud of yourself for the work you are doing. I'm typing that for myself. When I save 50% it just doesn't seem like enough anymore. Be happy for 50%. Be happy for 15%. It is all money saved!

Dog Food
We have 7 dogs living at our house. Dog food used to run us about $85.00 a month when they were eating Purina. Attempting to save money, I tried to do a mix of Purina and the Fred Meyers Brand dog food but it just isn't working. It cut the bill down to $50.00 a month but the dogs don't seemed satisfied and it doesn't seem to be digesting completely. It would almost be painful to keep shelling out $85.00 again. So I came up with a plan...
I make the dog food. I've done a lot of research on dog food. It seems like the more information I read, the less comfortable I am with giving the dogs any brand. I had a golden retriever who lived 15 years on a diet of Purina so that has to say something about that brand of food. But let's see how becoming the dogs' personal chef works out for my family.
40% meat, 30% vegetables, 30% carbs. If you ever try baking for your dog, make sure you have a full list of products that you should never put in dog food. I never use onions or garlic even though I find them in a lot of recipes because I occasionally find them on vet "Do Not Eat" lists.
Money Invested...
20 quart stock pot $20.70 (org. $45.99)- I'm going to use this baby out!
3LB Rice $2.10 (SW Sale)
Leftover oatmeal $0
Leftover carrots $0
Last Summers Salmon $0
Freezer Bags $.75
1/3 Bag of FM Dog Food to transition $4.67
20LB Purina to transition $8.49 (org. 16.99)
Supplies- $21.45
Food- $15.26
Ok, well the numbers don't look so good considering my food goal is $25.00. I have to have the transition food though. So the new goal.... $30.00! ($25.00 will be my goal next month)

There are a couple good deals that I might take advantage of tomorrow (May 31st).
-$7.99 for a Topsy Turvy Tomato Planter + a FREE Jobes 8 pack Tomato Spikes with in-store coupon.
(This is the lowest price I've seen this year. I have heard good and bad about these contraptions. My dad seems to like his so I will probably try one. I have researched how to make them but to be honest I don't really want to look out my window to see soda bottles and reusable grocery bags hanging willy nilly from the trees. If the topsy turvy does work, I'll make them next year with my son. Then instead of looking out my windows thinking my trees look like they have been digging in the trash, I will think my son is a brilliant boy with the gift of duct taping.
-B1G1 Free Brita Water Filtration Go Here to find a printable $5.00 off coupon for the filter pitcher and a $2.00 off coupon for the filter. Don't forget to print twice! When I last bought the pitcher it was $21.99. Don't forget to use the 10% off housewares bonus coupon in the regular flyer. It will take $2.20 off one, $0 off the free brita. Then you can use two $5.00 off coupons to buy two pitchers for $9.79 ($4.90 each). I'm using the $2.00 coupons to score 2 filters for about $2.00 each. Unless they changed the price they were around $8.00.
