Preterm Labor

I used to be so detailed.  My weeks were planned out.  I even made a magnet planning board and a cross off list for each day.  One day I might get back to that point.  But I'm thinking it is going to be a couple months until my lists and calendar events hold any kind of stability.  On Saturday, at 27 weeks pregnant, I went to the hospital for preterm labor.  This pregnancy is still going better than my son's pregnancy 4 years ago but there is a lot of fear in knowing what is going to happen if things continue to go down hill.  I'm just thankful I'm home.  We are just counting down the days.  It is just so nerve racking to know that I could have to leave at anytime without any notice.  It is so scary.  You would think I would be some what prepared for the lack of control because I birthed a 14 week preemie but at a certain point I thought my ultrasounds showed I was going to beat my complications and have a "normal" pregnancy, even if the beginning wasn't easy.

So the bottom line is that I might not be posting for a bit.  Or I could be over posting if I end up in the hospital with a computer.  I was so bored last time.  I long for stability!

Still Working On Bazaar List

I haven't forgotten about the Holiday Bazaar list I was planning on posting.  I am waiting on a few responses.  The newsminer's list that was released this past Sunday had some incorrect information and I want to verify my information with an actual cordinator of some of these events.  Hopefully I will hear something soon.

Putting Together a Bazaar List...

I'm putting together a bazaar/fair list for the Fairbanks/North Pole area.  I found that even though the newspaper puts together a list (I think it is at the beginning of October) some people don't get their bazaars in on time or people are looking on the internet for information that doesn't seem to be posted anywhere.  I think I have all the big ones but if you have any that you want to make sure are on the list shoot me an email at Thefrozencoupon@hotmail.com.  I'm planning on posting the list this coming Monday.  I would even appreciate emails like "Doesn't such and such have a bazaar too?"  That way I can at least do some investigating.  Thanks all!  And please feel free to pass on the message that I'm trying to do a master list to those who might be interested.

Where did I go?

I would never call myself superstitious but I just couldn't bring myself to post before now.  I started a couple of times but then I would delete my post thinking, "Nope, not yet."  Well it's time... I'm pregnant.  I'm now in my 25th week.  If you are familiar with my family you will know that I started couponing a few years ago to save money after our budget became very tight following my son's 14 week premature birth.  Things are currently going very well.  From weeks 5 through 18 I was somewhere between light bed rest and strict bed rest.  I had to have surgery and had extreme nausea which caused some very bad hypoglycemic episodes.  My husband has been the main grocery shopper and is doing a fairly good job saving money.  Though for a bit it was fast food/ delivery for us.  That was a hard adjustment for me because I knew how much I could make that money stretch at the grocery store.  But something had to give.  But I'm able to be a little more active now.  And it is a huge relief to be this far along.

I want to give people encouragement when dealing with insurance companies.  Know your policy and fight things that you feel don't make sense.  My husband had 4 ER visits in 4 days two day before I found out I was pregnant.  Between the two of us we had over $15,000 in medical bills within two months after insurance payments.  We read our insurance coverage and questioned certain payments.  In the end we now owe less than $4,000.  From daunting to doable.  And think of how many groceries I can buy with $11,000.  lol

$25 Food Factory Certificates For $12.50

KIAK.com (the country radio station) has a half price club.  This morning they are offering $25 Food Factory Gift Certificates for $12.50.  I've never ordered any of these "groupon like" deals through them but I took a chance on it today.  They charge a shipping fee though.  But to order 3 of them it charged me about $40 for $75 worth off food.  I still call it a good deal.  Though I have no idea if there is an expiration date or why it said you can use more than one per visit but only one per table.  They only have about 60 of these left so act fast!  Go Here!

Recycle Bank... 140 Points Available

I probably haven't been giving recycle bank the attention it deserves.  The Alaskan Bargain Hunter posted today how to get 25 points by clicking on the Dove logo under the "Earn Points" section.  So I went on a points hunt and wanted to report every point I was able to find without needing a product code.

Pledge to Save Water (click link on right side)... Earn 5 Points
Take the Aveeno Pledge through Facebook... Earn 50 Points
Partners In Purpose Learn and Earn (Recycling Quiz link on right side, right answer not needed)... Earn 5 Points
Partners In Purpose Learn and Earn, Look Beyond the Nutritional Label (I took the quiz a month ago and was able to retake it again for points.)... Earn 25 Points
Future Friendly P&G Points (accept all 3 challenges on their facebook page) and Coupon... Earn 30 Points and a $2.00 off Future Friendly Products at P&G Estore

Not familiar with Recyclebank go HERE.  I love recyclebank for their high value coupons.  You receive points for doing different activities and then can cash them in for deals or coupons.  They run discounted points during the month.  Sometimes they run awesome coupons for only 10 points.

Great Kool Aid Deal At University Safeway

I found this deal on Thurday night at the Safeway on University Ave.  I haven't had a chance to blog about it so I checked tonight to make sure there were a few packets left.  Well there were more than a few... there were about 8 display boxes full with a choice of two flavors, lemon/lime or watermelon/cherry.  The packets are regularly priced $.30 a packet.  The clearance sticker lowers the price to $.15.  The newsminer actually had two coupons in the inserts at the beginning of the month for Kool Aid.  One was Buy 2 Get 1 Free  and a Buy 10 Get 5 Free.  They automatically scanned off -$.25 and -$1.25.  If you have those coupons you can buy 18 for $1.20 ($2.70-$1.50).  Or you can get an even better deal and print a $.50 off a purchase of 5 packets HERE.  (Enter the Kool Aid giveaway on Facebook and they give you a coupon.  Make sure you hit the back button to print it twice.)  Using two of these coupons will score you 10 packets for $.50!  $.05 a packet!

Catalina List for Safeway and Freds

For those of you that don't have a clue what a catalina is...
You may have noticed a machine that prints out coupons during or at the end of your transaction.  Look closely at those coupons.  When I type OYNO (On Your Next Order), I am talking about a coupon that will print out for a stated amount that can be used towards your next order.  It is almost like a gift card in coupon form.  So when you read the catalina list, the wording "receive $3.00" does not mean they will hand you $3.00.  It means the printer will print a catalina coupon that says something like "Get $3.00 off your next order."  And that $3.00 coupon can be used towards basically anything.  If you get it for buying toothbrushes, you could use it on soda.  You can save a lot of money if you know what products trigger a catalina to print.

Refilling Your Ink Cartridge

I had to cut down the quality by about 92%.  It is a little echoed (almost like a lisp) but you get the idea.  I'll try to work on that for the next video.  I think it has to do with standing right next to the microphone.  I'm learning.  :)

I wanted to post a video showing people how to refill their own ink cartiridges.  I'm a huge fan of it.  Printed coupons is the number one way I save money.  I realized very quickly that I had to make it cost effective.  As far as saving paper, I printed out coupons on the back of every old paper I could find, including information packets and medical bills (without personal information).  Now I wait for a sale at Fred Meyers and pair it with their $3 bonus savings coupon on office supplies that I normally get in their quarterly coupon packet for using my club card.  Last time I made $.20 when I bought 500 sheets of paper.

Saving on ink was a little daunting of a task but after shelling out money for yet another ink cartiridge I thought, "What do I have to lose?"  And ever since then I have been saving money on my saving money adventure.  It honestly isn't very hard at all.  Though as you can tell by my hands it got a little messy this time.  I highly encourage it though.  Have a little faith in yourself and give it a try!

The ink runs at about $12.00 for an 8 refill supply at Fred Meyers.  They run 10% off ink coupons in their flyer pretty frequently but sometimes they run even higher percentages off.  Though note it is in the electronics section, not office supplies where I personally think it makes the most sense.  Another bonus is that I actually get to use all the ink in my cartiridge.  I don't throw away ink just because it is low.  I wonder how much ink is really left in a low cartiridge.  Maybe I don't want to know. :)

My Amazon Purchases

Things I'm ordering of amazon...

Froot Loops with Sprinkles Cereal, Sweetened Multigrain, 17-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 3)  Choose S&S for 15% off and free shipping.  $6.96
Rosarita Refried Beans, 16-Ounce Cans (Pack of 24)  Choose S&S for 15% off and free shipping.  $21.43

I can't wait until the Friday deals.  I just couldn't find good prices on the things we are running out of around here.  A lot of my week is going to be organizing my pantry and my coupon book.  Do you ever find yourself searching all over the place for a coupon you know you just saw yesterday?  I know I could be saving more if I just took a day to organize.  So that is what I'm doing.  I hope you all have a fantastic Thursday!

When I went to Safeway...

I saw advertised on another site that there was a B1G1 free sale on Tostidos plus free 2L Pepsi at Safeway.  I went to Safeway to take advantage of this deal and I found that there isn't a buy on get on free sale on the tostidos but they are on sale for something like $2.65 (which was cheaper than if they were BOGO because buying two on sale was cheaper than buying one at regular price, over $6).  But the coupons I found were hanging on the soda bottles and were buy two bags of tostidos, get one 2 liter pepsi free.  And this is very important..... one free pepsi coupon per transaction.  If you do multiple coupons they scan but it doesn't come off your bill.  That is at least what I came across.

More On Monday

I'm probably not going to be posting much until Monday.  The family, including me, has had a very sick two weeks.  Sadly the kiddo had another seizure from his temperature.  I even had a fever and I never get fevers.  So we are laying low and having movie parties.  Silver lining to any sickness is watching your whole disney movie collection.  :)

Somethings I noticed before we fell into the land of runny noses...
Those Frozen Food Coupon books were restocked at Safeway.  This was last week but they seemed to have many at the North Pole and Airport Safeway locations.  I also scored big time last week at the clearance area in North Pole Safeway.  I took pictures to post of all the groceries but I think it is better to look forward than back at this point.  Money is going to be very tight for the next two months so I'm going to stock up on the deals and live off of our current supply.  At least it will be good motivation for gardening.  Vegetables and fruit drain our grocery budget but are a must have.  Hope you all have a great weekend!

Notable Safeway Deals

I have no time to post but wanted to let you all know that there is a spend $75 receive $10 catalina coupon at Safeway available on Friday (yesterday) and Saturday (Today!).  According to Safeway Facebook page, "per #12 of our coupon policy: minimum purchase requirements are calculated AFTER club card savings, and BEFORE manufacturer’s coupons."  Though my total was $82 something after club card savings and $57 something after coupons and it didn't print.  So I just called catalina.

Second, hidden behind the deal flap on the first page is the glorious $5/$15 frozen food coupon.  I ended up paying $3.49 last night for $15.49 worth of frozen food.  WooHoo!  I don't know how I missed that coupon for 2 days but at least I saw finally saw it.

Third, 75% off select books near the Easter items at the mall enterance to the North Pole Safeway.  Basically cookbooks and children's books.  Most were a final price of $1.75.  They were good, educational, hard cover books to boot.  If I get a chance I will post my grocery picture tonight.  This deal runs through the 29th.

Hope everyone is having a fantastic Saturday!  And just want to add that I am a huge fan of the North Pole Safeway cashiers!

Amazon Charmin Ultra Deal

I paid $7.99 last week for a 12 double roll of toilet paper at Fred Meyers so I'm using that as a base for is this a good deal.  Every now and then I'm able to get it a little cheaper but then again it is more often an annoyance of having to pay full price because we are completely out.  So this deal equals 96 double rolls and would cost about $64 if I bought it at Freds with that particular $7.99 coupon.  Plus the mega rolls take up less storage.

Charmin Ultra Soft, Mega Rolls, 12-Count (Pack of 4) for $43.99
Choose Subscribe and Save to get free shipping and 15% off.  Clip $.25 coupon that will be applied at check out.  And enter code "PAPERSNS" to receive another -5.90 off.

Amazon Haribo Candy Deals

I'm just sitting here watching a movie on Netflix while amazon browsing and I thought I would post some of the things that interest me.  If you are new to amazon grocery shopping keep in mind that clicking on Subscribe and Save will give you an extra 15% discount on the item and free shipping.  In the spirit Easter baskets I think I'll start with candy...

Haribo Candy!  I can't believe I found the Haribo Gummi Candy, Fizzy Cola, 5-Ounce Bags (Pack of 12) for $9.83 (S&S and code HARIBOII another 10% discount at checkout)  I LOVE these gummy soda bottles.  They are the ones that are coated in sugar.  I haven't been able to find these since high school when I would buy them at the mall.  Oh and I've looked!

Newsminer Newspaper's Deceptive Deal

I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt.  But after talking to a total of 3 people at the Newsminer I have come to my personal opinion that they false advertised how good their newspaper deal was that I promoted a couple weeks ago.  It makes me mad for two reasons.  I promoted it and I was super excited about this amazing deal.  It was still a good deal but I feel duped.  This is issue...

$40 for 26-week, 7-day Fairbanks Daily News-Miner subscription, plus e-edition - a $156 value
Details of the Deal
Voucher expires March 31, 2011
New subscribers only (may not have been a subscriber for at least 30 days)
One coupon redemption per customer
Not valid for cash back
Not valid with any other offer
Cannot use until day after online offer ends
Valid only in Fairbanks home-delivery areas.

Here is my argument.  If you call to buy a 26 week, 7 day subscription plus e-edition it costs $120.00.  Now the representative from the paper (the 3rd person I spoke to) told me the $156.00 is if you went to the store and purchase them.  He said that was stated in the advertisement.  It doesn't say that anywhere.  In fact it states SUBSCRIPTION.  Stating a subscription's value is $156 when it is $120 is false advertising.  And they don't feel anything is wrong with the ad.  I just want to inform my readers that the cost of a 26 week, 7 day newspaper subscription is $94.00.  I'm not interested in the e-edition when I have a physical paper.  So the personal value I give this deal is that I snagged a $94.00 subscription for $40.00.  Though I'm afraid this whole thing has put a bad taste in my mouth for these deals.  As you can imagine after talking to three people I was fed way more false information than I shared in this post.  It would have been much easier for them if I didn't know how to add.

***Just want to note that I was completely calm and professional during the conversation.  My only request was that I wanted to voice my concern and to get clarification.

Newsminer Newspaper Deal

For Today (4/1) and Tomorrow (4/2) only the newsminer is running a sale under their new Hot Deals Alert program.  This is the first thing I have bought on this program.  I think it is about 3 weeks old.  So far I've been fairly impressed with what they have been offering.  If we had some extra cash laying around I probably would have bought a couple deals by now.  But this newspaper deal I just couldn't pass up...

Newsminer Newspaper is offering you a 26 Week, 7 Day subscription including the E-Edition for $40 (Org $156)!  I called today to make sure my North Pole address was included in their opinion of the Fairbanks home delivery area.  If you have questions call 456-6661.  To get this great deal go HERE

My Shopping Trip

*Tomorrow is the last day to enter Progresso giveaway!

Lately Safeway is my favorite place to shop.  It seems like they have had a few excellent deals over the past couple weeks.  My mother-in-law got me a really good book about being prepared for an emergency.  I would love some feedback on how large a stockpile you have or would like to have on hand in groceries.  The book suggests a year.  So I'm starting small.  I honestly don't think I have enough room for a year supply in our home.  Maybe 4 months.  My husband's Mountain Dew habit would take up half the pantry alone.  So when I find a good deal I stock up thinking 4 months ahead.  These are my good deals from Sunday...

The original price of all these groceries was $110.87 but I paid $20.68.  A total savings of 81%!  A lot of the savings had to do with the 50% clearance shelf.  I'm not an advocate of clearing a shelf when you find a good deal but I will put a lot in my cart if they are on the clearance shelf.  If it isn't sold soon it's going in the trash.

Quakers Chewy Bars... Org $3.79... Sale $2.50... 50% off -$1.25... Safeway cpn $1.99... Final Price $.74
Quakers Rice Delights... Org $3.19... Sale $1.50... 50% off -$.75... Final Price $.75
Jimmy Dean... Org $5.49... 50% off -$.2.75... Manu cpn -$1/1... Final Price $1.74
Steak... Org $6.29... 50% off -$3.15... Safeway cpn -$2/1... Final Price $1.14
These are my favorite deals...
Candy Bars... Org Price for 8 $7.92... Safeway Sale Buy 4 Get 4 Free -$3.96... Manu cpn for 3 free candy bars, max value -$2.65... 2 Manu cpn -$.25/1... Final Price $.81 for 8 Candy Bars
4 Sodas and 2 Crackers... Org Price for all $40.72... Safeway Sale Buy 2 Get 2 Free and 2 Free Crackers-$24.34... Manu cpn for 1 Free Coke 12 pack (from coke rewards) -$8.19... 3 Manu cpn (soda) $.75/1... Manu cpn (crackers) -$1/2...  Final Price for 4 Packs of Soda and 2 Boxes of Crackers $4.94

Giveaway... The Progresso Souper You Debut

I'm very excited to be giving away a Progresso Souper You Debut Gift Pack courtesy of Progresso through MyBlogSpark.  The gift pack includes a coupon for a free can of Progresso soup, a yoga mat, water bottle (love this water bottle, BPA free), set of aerobic bands, sport headband and two sport wristbands (I only got one, lol, like an 80s costume).  Yippy, I have another giveaway!  Here is some information they gave me concerning their "Souper You Debut."

"Available in 40 delicious flavors with 100 calories or less, Progresso® Soup can help curb your hunger, making it easier for you to stick to your weight management plan all year long. With hearty ingredients like pasta, beans, corn and rice, and flavor-packed vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, and peppers, Progresso Soup varieties with 100 calories or less offer a good source of fiber and a full serving of vegetables.
To help kick off a new outlook on the New Year, Progresso is excited to announce the return of the "Souper You™ Debut" contest! From January 3rd through March 16th, you and your readers can visit Progresso on Facebook to enter for the chance to win a full makeover in New York City.
Three grand prize winners will be awarded a trip for two to New York City from May 20th-22nd. The prize includes roundtrip airfare, a two-night stay in an NYC hotel, a full makeover, a guided wardrobe shopping spree with a personal consultation at a New York City department store, and $1,000 in spending money.
To enter, you’ll need to do the following:
    * Go to Progresso on Facebook to learn more and enter the contest
    * Submit your essay (200 characters or less) telling Progresso why you love their soups that contain  100 calories or less, and why you deserve a chance to win a trip to NYC for a full fashion overhaul
    * In addition, please submit a photo of yourself that visually reinforces the theme of your essay
Once the 10 finalists are announced, you can visit Progresso on Facebook from March 30th through April 13th to vote for your favorite."

So I have tried to get back on track with getting in shape and toning up.  So far this month I’ve lost a pound. :)  But… I worked hard for that pound so I should be :(.  And the husband says I’m getting toner so that is enough for me to stay motivated.  Luckily Progresso provided me with the prize pack they are offering you plus a few cans of soup came in the mail for me to review.  I thought the soup actually had a good flavor to it.  I’ve had some pretty bad healthy soup before and I could definitely eat the Progresso soup without complaints.  I really like a lot of vegetables in my soup and was able to add a lot of peas and carrots without losing the taste of the broth.  My husband was actually interested in trying a couple of the cans but I beat him to it.  And it is hard to get him to eat healthy soup.

How you enter the giveaway...

Leave a comment under the post letting everyone know what new flavor you find the most appetizing.  Don't forget your email address!  I will pick a number from random.org.  Entry in to the giveaway ends February 24, 2011 at 8PM (AK Standard Time).  A few of my favorites are Beef Pot Roast, Chicken Noodle, and New England Clam Chowder.

So good luck in the giveaway and good luck with being healthy!

Love this!  Barnes and Noble $20 Gift Card for $10!  You can use it in the store or online.  Instead of taking Brian to the local library, I like to make an adventure out of a trip to Petco and Barnes and Noble.  I'm going to probably end up using this right away.  And then wishing I had more.  Get yours HERE!

The Joy of Football Cpn List From Safeway Stores

I think I saw a sign for The Joy of Football coupon book in every aisle of the North Pole, AK Safeway last night but the only place to actually find the book was at a display at the front of the store (only 3) and a few at customer service.  The store was dead last night and the display was empty when I left.  It looks like it can only hold about 15 at a time so that could be why they are always out.  I don't know why they made the holder so small knowing these things are packed with over $70 of savings!

Manufacture Coupons
$1/4 Rotel Diced Tomatoes 10oz or Rosarita Refried Beans 8oz, Ex 2/28
$.75/1 12 pack 7UP, Sunkist, Canada Dry, or A&W, Ex 2/28
$.75/1  Pillsbury Crescent Dinner Rolls, Ex 3/31
$2/4 Pepsi Product 12 pack, Ex 2/19

Fred Meyer and Safeway Catalina List

It has been a couple weeks since I have done any serious grocery shopping.  I think my husband is starting to get a little annoyed that all the food in our house needs to be prepared.  He is more a microwave cook.  So this week I need to plan a serious grocery trip.  I'm going to hit Safeway and Freds and I'm going to hit them hard.  I'm thinking the damage will be about 3 grocery carts full between the two.  The cupboards look that empty.  And it is even worse since (bragging) my husband and father-in-law built me a new pantry.  It is amazing, huge, and in need of food.  I went to my favorite blog sites to get a good catalina list but found they were all sparse or expired.  So today I spent way to much time putting together a list and can only justify the time spent if I share it with you.  :)
