Debt is Not the End of the Story

I'm heading into North Pole soon to pick up the Safeway flyer and run a few errands. I know I can see the deals on the internet but I like the paper flyer. I'm going to catch a quick episode on Oprah. I'm not a big Oprah fan but it is an episode all about debt.

I'm big on being a debt fixer. I was pretty irresponsible with money when I was in my early 20s. I kept the lifestyle my parents gave me when I lived in their home, but only had a 20 something's salary. Luckily I grew up and became aware of what I was doing. I started putting a lot of money towards paying off bills and we created an emergency fund. And then life happened again. Long story short we have another large debt hole to focus on again. But we are going to conquer that too!

I think it is important to look at the big picture when you are saving money or feeling overwhelmed by lack there of. I think keeping up with the Jones is so self defeating. You may see their belongings but you don't see their credit card statements. They have a lot of money and they spend a lot of money. We don't have a lot of money so we don't spend a lot of money. BUT one day we will have money and we know how to live on less! Did that all make sense? Ha ha

All of the work you are doing to save your dollars (and cents) is going to be knowledge that you will use for the rest of your money spending life. I'm learning the real value of money. I'm learning the importance of deserving the best price. I'm learning how to find the better deals. I'm learning the price of everything in the store, ha ha.

Be proud of yourself for the work you are doing. I'm typing that for myself. When I save 50% it just doesn't seem like enough anymore. Be happy for 50%. Be happy for 15%. It is all money saved!
